Giving back

Giving back

Volunteering and giving back to the community is so rewarding so here at Annie's Bundles I am committed to giving back.  Mother Theresa said it best "What I do you can not do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things together, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful."

In 2005 and 2006 I donated baskets to Elim Homes of Buffalo's Valentine fund raising event as part of their silent auction. It is a dinner along with silent and live auction where money is raised to help buy needed items for the residents at the facility.  This last year they were able to purchase a bus that will let them pick up and drop off residents of their Adult Day Center program.

In 2006 I was the chair person and a portion of our proceeds went to an event held here in Delano called the Relay For Life. It is an unbelievable event that pulls the community together for one night of honoring and remembering our loved ones that have been affected by cancer. Money is raised to help the American Cancer Society with its programs, services and research efforts in the fight against cancer.

Also in 2006 we gave our time and talent to the local school by helping put donated items into gift baskets for their silent auction at the spring carnival.

Another fund raising opportunity that is near and dear to my heart is a golf tournament that is in honor of my uncle who passed away from cancer at the young age of 45. That last time I talked to him before he passed away he told me to follow my dreams. All I can say is look where I am now.  It is the Larry Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament and each year we pick a particular need to fulfill for area hospitals. This past year we raised money for the music room at the hospice center. My uncle was a big music lover and played in a band so it was great fun to be able to help patients that enjoy the calming affect of music.
